You're right, it doesn't help. So, Hoyt was out of prison to kill the cold dead plot point 6 months before he went after Jane in the pilot, but he had to break out of prison to go after her in the pilot, right? Maybe he pled down to a lesser charge for his first attack on Jane (or any of the murders), served some time, paroled out, and then violated the conditions of his parole, so he was rearrested? It's almost 2:30 AM here, did any of that even make sense?

Or exactly when he went after Jane the first time. At least I can't remember it being mentioned.

The more I think about it, the more I think there really was a large gap of time that the viewers weren't privy to. Not only are Jane and Maura much closer friends (in terms of emotional and physical intimacy) but Dean also mentioned that he'd served two tours in Afghanistan in the interim. Another thought--I wonder what they would say if someone asked janerizzoli or @mauraisles on Twitter about the time frame?

Yeah. Dean mentioning the two missions in Afghanistan made me think that a lot of time has passed.
Hmm... I wonder if they would say something. I might work up the nerve to ask them. Lol.

One weekend when they were tweeting about drinking (which I realize doesn't narrow it down at ALL), I tweeted @mauraisles about Jane's choice of vodka, and she tweeted back... So you never know. And besides, the characters are fictitious. Fictitious characters can't get offended.

True true.
They're "drinking" tonight, so I'll wait until tomorrow or something.

Can I be a jerk and say I wouldn't turn down doing body shots with either of them?

That doesn't make you a jerk. I would be more than happy to do body shots with both of them. At the same time. Is that asking for too much?

Probably, but it's really wonderful to think about...
