I like that we've had a couple of episodes that are kind of centered around Jane and her past and, including this one, a couple that are centered more around Maura and her past. It's really nice to see that they really are equals. I can't wait to see this episode.
(I hope that makes sense. I just got home from day 6 of being at work at 7am and standing on my feet for 7 hours. Plus it's labor day weekend so the pet hotel is crazy busy. My brain is more than a little fried)

I'm really looking forward to this episode too. It'll be nice to see Maura in mortal peril instead of Jane, plus we'll get to see Jane's reaction to Maura being in danger this time. We know that Maura's willing to sacrifice all her personal comforts, her calm controlled demeanor, and her own safety for Jane. What is Jane willing to sacrifice for her?

This is one I'm going to have to watch again before I speak about it intelligently, but...did they cut out the hug, or did I miss it?

I don't remember seeing the hug..but whoa, that was a great episode. I wonder if Maura is ever going to be comfortable with her real dad...she didn't seem to warm up to him. Well, I wouldn't either after all the stuff he did. Maybe she will though. I'm not much of a discusser xD Next episode looks really intense. I think Frankie gets hurt.

I agree that it's nice to get a little more info into Maura's past. Lots of Jane comforting Maura in this one. Subtext turned up to 11! And Jane SO made that call to her father and tipped him off.

After watching the episode a second time, I can safely say the hug was cut. Disappointing, but the rest of the episode was so exciting I don't feel let down overall.
I'm in the middle of editing a mid-ep fic but the timeline of the last few scenes was a complete mindf*** to me. The scenes seemed out of order. Did anyone else feel that way?

The timeline for the whole show confuses me (as we've discussed). But yeah, the scenes did seem a little out of order. It's a lot like Grey's Anatomy. They seem to have their own timeline and it doesn't coincide with ours.
I really liked the episode though. I love love love that we got to learn about Maura. And I have to admit that I liked how, after learning who her father was, she questioned her motives for becoming a medical examiner and being constantly surrounded by death. I think it ties in to what she was saying in the previous episode about her childhood and the benign neglect.
And I also love that when Jane brought her back to her apartment to "comfort" her, she gave her cereal. Not gonna lie, cereal isn't exactly high on my list of comfort foods.

I thought the "comfort food" was cute in that feeding someone is caring for them. I mean, when someone close to you dies, acquaintances send flowers and friends send food. I suspect that Jane isn't exactly hiding any culinary expertise, so she probably gave Maura everything she had...cereal.

It was a very sweet gesture. And only goes to prove that they're married dating close friends
