For serious, I just bookmarked that. I have ALWAYS thought that, and truth is that when I write stuff about the show... that's what it's about. How can it NOT be that? Like... everyone denies it, but is it even not an option now? Obviously we've all seen the ssn 2 finale. SPOILER ALERT- When Maura is crying bc all she can do is watch Jane be in pain... I was crying right along with her. You SEE what they have for each other, and yet... "No. We're not gay." WHAT?

If I may, the controversy has evolved because of Subtext.
The purpose of subtext originally began because the subject mater is - that which “should not be spoken ofâ€, pertaining in this case to homosexual subject matters. To agree to “subtext†is to agree to keep homosexuality hidden – not allowing it to evolve and never allowing it to express it’s self openly, realistically and honestly.
Subtext delivers hidden subliminal messages. When will lead characters be allowed to fully represent their homosexuality - with an honest, open, mature, intelligent and positive depiction?
To “intentionally†incorporate subtext in season after season after season sends a demeaning message as well. Homosexuality has always been everywhere and always will be everywhere… till the end of time…classifying it as very “NORMALâ€. We have to stop treating homosexuality in such a veiled manner. We need to evolve!
Things have got to change for the better…. We should all be on common ground regarding: 1. We want more visual representation of gay characters on TV 2. More gay positive role models, leads dealing with their gayness in a dignified manner. 3. No more insulting subtext communications – but real dialogue between mature gay characters.
Subtext will only reinforce negative connotation about homosexuality… it will only continue to keep the subject matter HIDDEN – and we’ve had for too long - enough of that. Please consider the gravity of this issue. The Gay Community must pull together (world wide) and fight for it’s interests – with dignity.
The matter is serious... the issue has become more than entertainment.
